Buy a Rolex GMT-Master II With Complete Confidence
A GMT-Master II has to work as a travel tool, so that is where we start: an hour hand that jumps cleanly in one-hour steps, a date that follows it forwards and backwards, and a bezel that turns with firm clicks. Only then do our specialists check the movement, Cerachrom insert, dial and bracelet, along with the serial and reference numbers and any paperwork, against the specification of that reference.
Each listing shows the actual watch, states its condition and says whether the box and papers are included. If you want more, ask for extra photos, a video of the hour hand and bezel in action or a condition report before you decide.

THE OMAR’S ADVANTAGE
Why Buy Your Rolex GMT-Master II From Omar’s Timepieces?
Two GMT-Master II watches with the same bezel can still be different buys: a Batman on Oyster with calibre 3186, or one on Jubilee with calibre 3285, with or without its papers. Every listing states the full reference, bezel, bracelet and year, with photos of the watch itself. Prices follow recent comparable sales of the same bezel and bracelet combination and the live Dubai market, with condition, year, service history and the completeness of the set taken into account.
Omar Hatamleh set up Omar’s Timepieces LLC and brings many years in the watch business to it, and clients have given us a 4.9 rating on Google. We are independent and unaffiliated with Rolex. Our own warranty on mechanical function comes with every GMT-Master II we sell, and your current watch can count toward it as a trade-in.

Rolex GMT-Master II Buying Guide
GMT-Master History: From 1955 to Today
Rolex launched the GMT-Master in 1955 with ref. 6542, designed for airline pilots who needed to read a second time zone and closely linked with Pan Am. The GMT-Master II followed in the early 1980s, adding an hour hand that can be set independently. Two-colour Cerachrom bezels arrived in 2013, and the left-hand Sprite in 2022.
GMT-Master II References & Generations
The 126 prefix marks the current generation with calibre 3285, 116 references used calibre 3186, and five-digit models such as the 16710 had aluminium bezel inserts. The suffix letters name the bezel colours in French: BLRO blue and red, BLNR blue and black, CHNR brown and black, GRNR grey and black, VTNR green and black.
126710BLRO: 40 mm, Oystersteel, calibre 3285, Pepsi, blue and red bezel, Jubilee or Oyster.
126710BLNR: 40 mm, Oystersteel, calibre 3285, Blue and black bezel, Batman on Oyster, Batgirl on Jubilee.
126720VTNR: 40 mm, Oystersteel, calibre 3285, Sprite, crown and date on the left.
126711CHNR: 40 mm, Everose Rolesor, calibre 3285, Root Beer, brown and black bezel.
126713GRNR: 40 mm, Yellow Rolesor, calibre 3285, Grey and black bezel.
126718GRNR: 40 mm, 18 ct yellow gold, calibre 3285, Grey and black bezel, offered with a Tiger Iron dial.
116710BLNR: 40 mm, Oystersteel, calibre 3186, Original Batman, Oyster bracelet only.
116710LN: 40 mm, Oystersteel, calibre 3186, Black Cerachrom bezel, green 24-hour hand.
GMT-Master II Sizes & Materials
Every modern GMT-Master II is 40 mm, with a sporty profile that suits most wrists. Oystersteel models such as the Pepsi, Batman and Sprite are the everyday choice. Everose and Yellow Rolesor add gold to the bezel, crown and centre links, while full Everose, yellow or white gold versions are heavier and dressier.
If you want one watch for work, travel and weekends, steel is the practical pick. Rolesor suits those who want warmth without the full weight of gold, and solid gold is for buyers who want the GMT-Master II as a statement piece.
Bezels, Nicknames & Bracelets
GMT-Master II bezels are known by their nicknames: Pepsi for blue and red, Batman for blue and black on the Oyster bracelet and Batgirl for the same on Jubilee, Root Beer for brown and black, and Sprite for green and black with the crown on the left. Older models include the Coke, with a black and red aluminium insert.
Current steel models close with an Oysterlock safety clasp and Easylink extension. The Jubilee has five-piece links and a softer, dressier feel; the Oyster has three-piece links and a more solid one. Several references are made on both, so the bracelet is part of the choice.
GMT-Master II Movement & Specifications
Calibre 3285 runs today’s GMT-Master II and holds about 70 hours of power reserve, helped by Rolex’s Chronergy escapement and a blue Parachrom hairspring; the 116 generation used calibre 3186 with about 48 hours. The 24-hour hand shows home time against the bezel, while the hour hand jumps to local time without stopping the watch.
The 40 mm case is water-resistant to 100 metres, with a screw-down Triplock crown and a bidirectional 24-hour rotatable bezel.
GMT-Master II 126710 vs 116710
The 116710LN brought Cerachrom to the steel GMT-Master II, and the 116710BLNR added the first two-colour ceramic bezel; both used calibre 3186 and came only on the Oyster bracelet. The 126710 generation moved to calibre 3285 with about 70 hours of power reserve and offers the Pepsi and Batman on the Jubilee as well as the Oyster.
From a distance the cases look almost identical. Choose a 126710 for the newer movement and the Jubilee option, or a well-kept 116710 if you prefer the earlier generation or the original Oyster-only Batman.
What Affects the Price of a GMT-Master II
The bezel colourway and the metal set the level: steel Pepsi, Batman and Sprite models trade differently from Rolesor and gold references. Bracelet matters as well, since Jubilee and Oyster versions of the same reference are priced separately.
Generation, year, condition, service history and a complete set then refine the price. A chipped Cerachrom insert, or a faded aluminium one on an older model, noticeably reduces value.
Before You Buy a GMT-Master II: Checklist
Test the functions as well as the condition before you commit:
Jump the local hour hand through midnight in both directions and check the date follows.
Turn the bezel a full revolution both ways; each click should be firm, with no play.
Inspect the Cerachrom insert for chips or cracks, especially at the edges.
Check the reference suffix matches the bezel colours on the watch.
Ask which bracelet the watch was supplied on and whether the original is included.
Look for stretch in the bracelet and wear on the Oysterlock clasp.
Ask what the set includes: box, warranty card, spare links and service papers.

How We Inspect Every GMT-Master II
We test what makes a GMT-Master II different: the local hour hand must jump cleanly in both directions with the date following through midnight, and the 24-hour hand must hold home time. The bezel is turned through every click, the Cerachrom insert examined for chips, and winding, timekeeping, the Triplock crown, bracelet stretch and the clasp are all checked.
We then match the serial and reference to the papers and confirm the bezel, dial and bracelet are correct for that reference. Modified watches, replicas and anything with a removed serial are refused.
Ask us on WhatsApp for a short video of the hour hand and bezel on any GMT-Master II in our listings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which GMT-Master II bezel should I choose?
Choose the one you will enjoy wearing most. The Pepsi is the original GMT colourway, the Batman is more subdued, the Root Beer pairs brown and black with Everose gold, and the Sprite puts the crown on the left, which suits people who wear their watch on the right wrist.
What is the difference between the Batman and the Batgirl?
Both names describe the steel GMT-Master II with a blue and black Cerachrom bezel. Batgirl is the nickname for the 126710BLNR on the Jubilee bracelet; Batman refers to the Oyster bracelet version, including the original 116710BLNR from 2013.
Can a GMT-Master II show three time zones?
Yes. The hour hand shows local time and the 24-hour hand shows home time when the bezel is at zero. Turn the bezel to the offset of a third city and read that zone from the 24-hour hand against the bezel scale.
Is the GMT-Master II a good everyday watch?
Very much so. It is water-resistant to 100 metres with a Triplock crown, the Cerachrom insert resists scratches and fading, and the 40 mm case suits most wrists. Screw the crown down after setting the time, and give the bracelet a rinse after the beach or pool.
Are your GMT-Master II watches full sets?
It varies from watch to watch. Each listing shows which parts of the set are present, and where a box, card or link is missing, the listing says so and the price is adjusted to match. Ask us and we will confirm the contents before you commit.
How do you check a GMT-Master II is authentic?
Before a GMT-Master II is listed, it goes through our specialists’ authentication: movement and GMT function, case, Cerachrom bezel, dial and bracelet, plus the serial and reference numbers and any papers, all compared with the reference. Replicas, altered watches and pieces with removed serials have no place in our stock, and each listing shows the watch itself.
What warranty comes with a pre-owned GMT-Master II?
Each one is sold with a dealer warranty of our own that covers mechanical function. It is our warranty, not the manufacturer’s, and we are happy to talk you through its terms on WhatsApp before you buy a GMT-Master II.
Do you accept crypto for a GMT-Master II?
Yes. We take cash or cryptocurrency for a GMT-Master II and issue a formal invoice for every sale. Informal channels and third-party apps are never used, so your purchase is properly recorded from agreement to handover.
Do you ship a GMT-Master II outside the UAE?
Yes. Shipping abroad is arranged for each order individually, with its own quote. Inside the UAE, your GMT-Master II is delivered free and insured on the day the order is confirmed, unless you prefer to collect it in Dubai by appointment.
Can I view a GMT-Master II in Dubai first?
Yes. We show watches by appointment only, never to walk-ins, in Nad Al Hamar, Dubai. Tell us on WhatsApp which GMT-Master II you would like to see and when, and we will confirm a time.
Can you find a specific GMT-Master II, such as a Pepsi on Oyster?
Yes. Send the reference, bezel, bracelet and your budget on WhatsApp. We ask our collector and dealer contacts in Dubai, Europe and Asia for that exact watch, and you only commit once we have found it.
Can I put my old watch toward a GMT-Master II?
Yes, whichever brand it is. Tell us what you are trading, with photos and the reference, and we will reply with an offer that reduces the balance on the GMT-Master II you pick.
