Buy an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in Dubai With Confidence
A Royal Oak is judged on details that photos can hide: crisp bevels on the octagonal bezel, the contrast between brushed and polished surfaces on the integrated bracelet, and a Tapisserie dial that is correct for the reference. Our specialists check all of this, together with the movement, the serial and reference numbers and any documents, before a watch is listed. Each listing then shows the actual watch, its condition and exactly what comes with it.
The grid above also includes Ladies Royal Oak, Royal Oak Offshore and Offshore Diver pieces, so you can compare the whole family before choosing. For a closer look at any of them, ask on WhatsApp for extra photos, a video of the watch running or a written condition report.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Buying Guide
A Short History of the Royal Oak
Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak at the Basel fair in 1972. Designed by Gérald Genta, the reference 5402ST was a 39 mm steel sports watch with an octagonal bezel, an integrated bracelet and the ultra-thin calibre 2121. The larger Royal Oak Offshore followed in 1993, and the 50th anniversary in 2022 brought the 16202ST Jumbo and the 15510ST.
Royal Oak References and Generations
These are the core time-only and chronograph references. The letters after the number give the case material, so a 16202OR is the same Jumbo in pink gold.
5402ST: 39 mm, Steel, calibre 2121, The 1972 original.
15202ST: 39 mm, Steel, calibre 2121, Jumbo Extra-Thin, succeeded by the 16202 in 2022.
16202ST: 39 mm, Steel, calibre 7121, Current Jumbo Extra-Thin, also made in pink gold (16202OR).
15400ST: 41 mm, Steel, calibre 3120, Selfwinding, 2012 to 2019.
15500ST: 41 mm, Steel, calibre 4302, Selfwinding, 2019 to 2022.
15510ST: 41 mm, Steel, calibre 4302, Current 41 mm selfwinding, since 2022.
15550ST: 37 mm, Steel, calibre 5900, Current 37 mm selfwinding.
26240ST: 41 mm, Steel, calibre 4401, Flyback chronograph, successor to the 26331ST.
Royal Oak Sizes and Metals: 37 mm, 39 mm or 41 mm
The 41 mm selfwinding is the modern standard, and it wears larger than the number suggests because the flat case and integrated bracelet spread across the wrist. The 39 mm Jumbo is thinner and closest to the 1972 proportions. The 37 mm suits slimmer wrists and is worn by men and women alike, while the 38 mm selfwinding chronograph offers a compact option with pushers.
Steel (ST) is the everyday choice. Audemars Piguet calls its red gold pink gold (OR), and also uses yellow gold (BA), white gold (BC), black ceramic (CE) and titanium (TI). Frosted gold, a hammered finish that catches the light, appears on selected gold and openworked models.
Tapisserie Dials, the Octagonal Bezel and the Bracelet
The Jumbo keeps the fine Petite Tapisserie pattern of the original, often in the night blue Audemars Piguet calls “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50”. The 37 mm and 41 mm selfwinding models use the larger Grande Tapisserie, in colours such as blue, black, grey, white and khaki green, while openworked versions replace the dial with a view of the movement.
Every Royal Oak shares the octagonal bezel fixed by eight hexagonal screws, and a bracelet that flows straight from the case. Its links taper towards the clasp and alternate satin brushing with polished bevels, which is why bracelet condition matters as much as the case.
Royal Oak Movements, Power Reserve and Water Resistance
Calibre 4302, introduced in 2019, powers the 41 mm selfwinding with a 70-hour power reserve at 4 Hz. The Jumbo moved from the long-serving calibre 2121 to calibre 7121 in 2022, the 37 mm selfwinding uses calibre 5900, and the current chronograph uses calibre 4401, an integrated flyback chronograph with a column wheel and the same 70-hour reserve.
Most Royal Oak models are water resistant to 50 m, enough for swimming but not for diving.
Royal Oak 15510ST vs Jumbo 16202ST
These two references are often weighed against each other, yet they feel very different on the wrist. Between the 15500ST and 15510ST, by contrast, case size and calibre are the same, so check the reference on the papers rather than relying on photos.
Size: the 15510ST measures 41 mm, while the 16202ST is 39 mm and noticeably thinner.
Dial: the 15510ST has a central seconds hand on Grande Tapisserie; the Jumbo shows hours, minutes and date only, on Petite Tapisserie.
Movement: calibre 4302 with a 70-hour reserve in the 15510ST, calibre 7121 in the 16202ST.
Market: the Jumbo usually trades well above the 41 mm selfwinding, so the 15510ST is the more practical way into a steel Royal Oak.
What Affects Royal Oak Prices
Reference and generation set the starting point, since a Jumbo, a chronograph and a 41 mm selfwinding each trade in their own range. Within a reference, metal and dial colour matter, and limited or discontinued dials can sit well above standard ones. Condition comes next, above all polishing, then year, service history and whether the box, card and extra links are present.
Before You Buy a Royal Oak: Checklist
Match the full reference on the warranty card to the case material, dial and bracelet code.
Look along the bezel and case edges: sharp, mirror-like bevels point to a watch that has not been heavily polished.
Check the eight bezel screws for tool marks and even alignment.
Flex the bracelet to feel for stretch, and ask how many links are included.
Confirm the dial pattern and colour are correct for the reference, with no sign of refinishing.
On chronographs, test start, stop and reset, plus the flyback on calibre 4401 models.

How We Inspect Every Royal Oak
On a Royal Oak we start with the case and bracelet: bevel sharpness, brushing direction, bezel screw alignment and stretch between the links. We then confirm the Tapisserie dial, hands and markers are right for the reference, time the movement, test winding and date change, and run the start, stop and reset on chronographs. Serial and reference numbers are matched to the papers where supplied.
The listing then shows photos of that exact watch, describes its condition plainly and lists what comes with it. If you are buying from outside Dubai, ask for a video or a written condition report first.
No replica, modified Royal Oak or watch with a removed serial ever reaches our listings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Royal Oak size should I choose: 37 mm, 39 mm or 41 mm?
Choose 41 mm for the modern standard, with a seconds hand and a broad presence on the wrist. The 39 mm Jumbo is thinner and more understated, while 37 mm suits slimmer wrists or anyone who prefers a compact watch. If you can, compare them on the wrist at a viewing in Dubai.
What is the difference between the Royal Oak 15500ST and 15510ST?
Both are 41 mm steel selfwinding models with calibre 4302 and a 70-hour power reserve. The 15500ST was made from 2019, and the 15510ST replaced it in 2022 with refinements to the dial and bracelet. Each of our listings names the exact reference.
What does “Jumbo” mean on a Royal Oak?
“Jumbo” is the collector name for the 39 mm extra-thin Royal Oak that follows the 1972 original, because the case looked large for its time. The 5402ST, 15202ST and current 16202ST all carry the name. Each has a Petite Tapisserie dial and shows hours, minutes and date without a seconds hand.
Can I swim with a Royal Oak?
Most Royal Oak references are water resistant to 50 m, which is enough for swimming but not for diving. If you spend a lot of time in the sea, the Royal Oak Offshore Diver, rated to 300 m, is the better fit.
Is a steel Royal Oak practical for daily wear in Dubai?
Yes, if you accept honest wear. Brushed surfaces pick up fine marks and the polished bevels show scratches, especially on the clasp. Many owners leave light wear rather than polish it, because polishing softens the edges that define the design. A quick rinse after the pool or beach helps.
Do your Royal Oak watches come with box and papers?
Each listing states exactly what is included, such as the box, the warranty card and any service papers. A complete set usually supports the price, and anything missing is disclosed before you buy. If extra links or the original card matter to you, ask and we will confirm with photos.
How do you check that a Royal Oak is authentic?
Our specialists authenticate and inspect every Royal Oak before it is listed. They check the movement, case, dial, bracelet, serial and reference numbers and any documents against the reference. We do not list replicas, modified watches or pieces with removed serials, so aftermarket diamonds, refinished dials and swapped parts are turned away.
Is there a warranty on a pre-owned Royal Oak?
Yes. Every Royal Oak we sell is covered by our own dealer warranty on mechanical function. If a recent watch still has its original Audemars Piguet warranty card, the listing says so, and we explain what each warranty covers before you pay.
How can I pay for a Royal Oak?
We accept cash or cryptocurrency, and every sale is recorded on a formal invoice. We never ask for payment through informal channels or third-party apps. Once payment is confirmed, the watch is handed over at your appointment or sent with free, insured same-day delivery within the UAE.
Can I see a Royal Oak in person before buying?
Yes, by appointment only, at our location in Nad Al Hamar, Dubai. Appointments run Monday to Wednesday 9 AM to 8 PM, Thursday 9 AM to 5 PM, Friday 2 PM to 9 PM and Saturday 10 AM to 8 PM. Book a Royal Oak viewing on WhatsApp.
Can you find a specific Royal Oak reference or dial?
Yes. Tell us the reference, dial colour, metal and budget on WhatsApp, for example a 15510ST in khaki green or a Jumbo in pink gold. We search our network of collectors and dealers across Dubai, Europe and Asia, and you are under no obligation until we find the right watch.
Can I trade in my current watch toward a Royal Oak?
Yes. Send photos, the reference and details of the box and papers on WhatsApp, and we will make you an offer for your watch. The agreed amount goes toward the Royal Oak you choose, with the balance settled in cash or cryptocurrency on a formal invoice.
