Steel, gold and complicated Nautilus references, each shown as the actual watch.
Buy a Patek Philippe Nautilus With Complete Confidence
A Nautilus is judged on sharp edges, a tight bracelet and the right dial for its reference. Our specialists go over each one before it is listed, from the movement and dial to the case, bracelet and clasp, and the serial and reference numbers must agree with the papers. Replicas, watches with aftermarket diamonds or replacement dials, and pieces with removed serials are refused at this stage, however convincing they look.
Every Nautilus listing is photographed as the actual watch, with its condition and its box and papers spelled out. Ask on WhatsApp for close-ups of the case flanks and clasp, a video of the watch running, or a written condition report.

Patek Philippe Nautilus Buying Guide
Nautilus History in Brief
Gérald Genta designed the Nautilus, and Patek Philippe launched it in 1976 as the steel 3700/1A. Its case was inspired by a ship’s porthole, and its size earned it the nickname “Jumbo”. The 5711/1A arrived in 2006 and defined the modern Patek Nautilus until production ended in 2021. In 2022 the white gold 5811/1G took over as the time-and-date model.
Nautilus References and Generations
The references below cover the original and the modern Nautilus market.
3700/1A: 42 mm, Steel, calibre 28-255 C, The 1976 original, known as the “Jumbo”.
5711/1A: 40 mm, Steel, calibre 324 S C, later 26-330 S C, Made 2006 to 2021; blue, white and olive green dials.
5711/1300A-001: 40 mm, Steel, baguette diamond bezel, calibre 26-330 S C, Olive green dial, introduced 2022.
5811/1G-001: 41 mm, White gold, calibre 26-330 S C, Blue dial; the time-and-date Nautilus since 2022.
5712/1A and 5712/1R: 40 mm, Steel or rose gold, calibre 240 PS IRM C LU, Moon phase, power reserve, small seconds.
5990/1A and 5990/1R: 40.5 mm, Steel or rose gold, calibre CH 28-520 C FUS, Travel Time flyback chronograph, introduced 2014.
5740/1G-001: 40 mm, White gold, calibre 240 Q, Perpetual calendar, introduced 2018.
7118/1200R: 35.2 mm, Rose gold, diamond bezel, Self-winding, Ladies’ Nautilus.
Nautilus Sizes and Materials
The 40 mm 5711 is notably thin, and its bracelet flows straight from the case, so it sits flat and comfortable on most wrists. The 41 mm 5811/1G feels similar but heavier in white gold. Complicated references such as the 5990 are a little larger and thicker. The 35.2 mm 7118 suits slimmer wrists and anyone who wants a lighter Nautilus.
Steel is the classic choice and the lightest on a hot Dubai day. Rose gold, coded R, has a warm look, while white gold, coded G, resembles steel but weighs considerably more. Two-tone AR references combine steel with rose gold. A platinum 5711/1P marked the model’s 40th anniversary in 2016.
Nautilus Dials, Bezels and Bracelets
The Nautilus dial carries horizontal embossed lines, most often in a blue that darkens towards the edge. The 5711/1A was also made with a white dial and, in its final year, an olive green one. In 2021, 170 pieces with a Tiffany blue dial co-signed by Tiffany & Co. became the “Tiffany” Nautilus. The 5711/1300A pairs an olive green dial with a bezel of baguette-cut diamonds.
The integrated bracelet combines brushed and polished links and closes with a fold-over clasp. A stretched bracelet or missing links lowers value, so ask how many links come with any watch you consider.
Nautilus Movements and Specifications
Early 5711/1A watches use the self-winding 324 S C, and later ones the 26-330 S C, which also powers the 5811/1G. The 5712 runs on the micro-rotor 240 PS IRM C LU. The 5990 uses the CH 28-520 C FUS, a flyback chronograph with a second time zone, and the 5740/1G the ultra-thin 240 Q perpetual calendar. The 5711/1A and 5811/1G are water resistant to 120 metres. Several complicated references are rated lower, so check the specific model before swimming.
Nautilus 5711/1A vs 5811/1G
The 5711/1A is the steel, 40 mm time-and-date Nautilus of 2006 to 2021, offered over the years in blue, white and olive green. The 5811/1G succeeded it in 2022 in white gold, at 41 mm, with a blue dial and the 26-330 S C movement.
Both share the embossed dial and integrated bracelet, so the choice comes down to metal, weight and era. Choose a 5711/1A for the steel original of the modern era and its lighter feel. Choose a 5811/1G for a more recent watch in precious metal, with more heft on the wrist.
What Affects a Nautilus Price
Reference sets the band, and discontinued references such as the 5711/1A trade on their own market. Dial matters as much as metal, and olive green and Tiffany dials sit apart from the standard blue. Case sharpness, bracelet condition, year, movement generation, service history and completeness then refine the figure. Any gem-setting must be factory original and correct for the reference.
Before You Buy a Nautilus: Checklist
Check these points on any Nautilus before money changes hands.
Match the full reference and dial suffix, such as -010 or -014, to the papers.
Inspect the case “ears” and bezel edges, which heavy polishing rounds off quickly.
Check the bracelet for stretch, and ask how many spare links are included.
Confirm the fold-over clasp closes firmly and securely.
On a 5712, check that the moon phase, power reserve and pointer date all work.
On a 5980 or 5990, operate the chronograph pushers and confirm the flyback resets and restarts the chronograph instantly.
On diamond-set references, confirm the setting is factory original for that reference.

How We Inspect Every Nautilus
Nautilus checks begin at the case. We study the bevels of the bezel and the case “ears” for over-polishing, and compare the embossed dial, hands and markers with the reference. The bracelet is checked for stretch and correct links. Through the sapphire back we examine the movement, then match its number, the case number and the reference with the papers.
After that, we wind the watch, set the time and confirm the date changes correctly. On complicated pieces we also test the moon phase, chronograph, second time zone or perpetual calendar. Every finding is written into the listing.
A Nautilus that fails any check, including one with a non-original dial or diamonds, is never listed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What replaced the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711?
Patek Philippe ended production of the steel 5711/1A in 2021. In 2022 the white gold 5811/1G-001 took its place as the time-and-date Nautilus, at 41 mm with a blue dial and the 26-330 S C movement. The 5711 remains one of the most sought-after pre-owned Patek references.
Which Nautilus size is right for my wrist?
The 40 mm 5711 and 5712 suit most wrists because the cases are slim and the bracelet sits close. The 41 mm 5811/1G feels similar but heavier. For a smaller watch, the 35.2 mm 7118 is the ladies’ Nautilus. If you are unsure, try them at a viewing.
Is a steel or gold Nautilus better for daily wear in Dubai?
Steel is lighter and copes well with daily knocks, which makes it the easier choice for heat and frequent wear. Gold feels richer and heavier, and it marks more readily because it is a softer metal. Both are built for everyday use, so choose on weight and look.
Can I swim with my Nautilus?
The 5711/1A and 5811/1G are water resistant to 120 metres, so swimming is fine with the crown properly closed and the seals in good condition. Several complicated references carry lower ratings, so check the exact reference first. We confirm the rating for every watch we sell.
What is the “Tiffany” Nautilus?
It is the 5711/1A-018, made in 2021 in a run of 170 pieces with a Tiffany blue dial co-signed by Tiffany & Co. It is among the rarest modern Nautilus references, so any example deserves careful checking against its reference and documents.
Do your Nautilus watches come with box and papers?
Each listing spells out exactly what is included, whether box, papers, spare links or none of these. On a Nautilus, a full set with matching papers adds real value, and anything missing is stated clearly and reflected in the price before you buy.
How do you authenticate a pre-owned Nautilus?
Authentication covers the whole watch: movement, case, dial, bracelet and clasp, plus the serial and reference numbers and the documents, all compared with what the reference should be. Watches with replacement dials, aftermarket diamonds or removed serials are turned away, so only Nautilus watches that pass every check are listed.
Is there a warranty on a pre-owned Nautilus?
Yes. Whether you choose a steel 5711 or a perpetual calendar 5740, the watch carries our own dealer warranty on mechanical function. We explain the cover in full before you pay, so you know exactly what is included once the watch is yours.
What payment do you accept for a Nautilus?
We accept cash or cryptocurrency for every Nautilus, and each sale is recorded on a formal invoice. Payments never go through informal channels or third-party apps, which keeps the transaction clean and documented for both of us.
Can I see a Nautilus before buying, or have it delivered?
Yes to both. We do not take walk-ins, so book a viewing on WhatsApp and we will meet you in Nad Al Hamar, Dubai. Anywhere in the UAE, delivery is free, insured and made on the same day as your confirmed order.
Can you find a specific Nautilus reference for me?
Usually, yes. A 5712/1A, a 5990/1A or a particular 5711 dial can be searched for through the collectors and dealers we know across Dubai, Europe and Asia. Message us the reference and your budget on WhatsApp, and there is no commitment on your side until we find one.
Can I trade in a watch towards a Nautilus?
Yes. You can trade a Rolex, an Audemars Piguet or another Patek Philippe towards a Nautilus. Send us photos and details of your watch, and we will value it against the current Dubai market and offset it against the Nautilus you choose.
